There are a ton of online stores, but they can be extrememly uncomfortable to wear if they are not made for your eye. I bought some generic ones for about $40 and then couldn’t even wear them because they hurt so bad. I didn’t think it was worth it to possibly damage my eyes, so I”m going to the eye doctor to get them this year.
Wallmart, K-Mart, Phone stores
HI! You can purchase them on http://www.coastalcontacts.com
It’s much cheaper and shipping is fast, and they have a crazy selection of halloween lenses.
at a haloween store…duh…lol
I think you still need to go to the eye doctor because they need to measure your eye for fit of the contacts.
Whether or not the contacts are corrective, you need a prescription to wear them. Part of the eye exam for contact lenses is measuring the diameter of your eyes, and contacts come in different sizes. It would be uncomfortable to wear the wrong size contacts.
Anywhere that gives contact lens exams probably carries the opaque contacts as well (or they can order them if not) – just call them and tell them you don’t need glasses but you want to be fitted for “cosmetic contact lenses”. It wouldn’t hurt to get the full eye exam once every couple of years anyways (well, except for walking into the sunlight after they dilate your eyes – pick up the disposable sunglasses on your way out). If you have health insurance the eye exam may be covered (mine covers the eye exam but not the contact fitting portion).
If you happen to be in Cape Girardeau, MO, my uncle’s an eye doctor at the mall there. He’s a nice guy.
ALL CONTACTS HAVE A PRESCRIPTION. You need a presctiption from a doctor to get them. special effects contacts with or without correction should be available through your eye doctor, once you have a complete eye exam and corneal evaluation for contacts. This is something you put in your eye and if it is not fit correctly it can do dammage to you that it pretty bad. Ask your eye doctor about any contact lense purchase. Any one telling you different is not on the up and up!
most opticle stores sell them. try there.
They are available through a bunch of websites BUT you still need to have a prescription for them, even if you don’t need corrective lenses. You will still need to have an eye exam and contact lens fitting because contact lenses come in many different base curves and diameters. The are not a “one size fits all” type of accessory. The are a medical device and they are regulated by the FDA because of that. So, even without needing corrective lenses, you would need a prescription for Plano lenses (non-prescription) Poorly fitting contact lenses can lead to heaps of problems so it is important that you see your eye doctor to make sure you get the right curve and diameter for YOUR eyes.
The Catch 22 about ordering your contacts online to get them cheaper, is that the doctor will not release a prescription to you to have filled elsewhere until he has SEEN the actual contacts on your eyes to ensure they are fitting properly. Unfortunately, this means that you’ll have to buy contacts through your doctor’s office before they will be comfortable releasing the info for you to have filled some place else. A prescription for contacts isn’t considered final until they have checked the fit of the lenses on you, and so you will need lenses for them do that. And online website that sell contacts USUALLY won’t guarantee a pair of contacts if you need to return them due to the fact that the doctor had to refit them. Also, when you’re ordering online or over the phone, the company that you’re ordering from must verify your prescription with your doctor to make sure that its correct and valid and if the doctor’s office will not verify it because they have not verified the final the prescription on you, then they will not be able to complete your order. This is to ensure that people are not filling their prescriptions with different lenses other than what they were fit with, and to make sure that people aren’t trying to have expired prescriptions refilled.
I’m sure 1800-Contacts has Wild Eyes, those are the really popular ones. Just do a Google search for contact lenses online. But you WILL need a prescription.
LensCrafters had them last year.
