Is it illegal to buy prescription drugs without a prescription?

My friend wants to buy some medication online, but he is not willing to go to the doctor since he needs to deal with all of the payments to the doctor and has to deal with insurance, etc… plus he is a very busy person
He wonders if he can just use the internet to buy the medication but he worries that it is illegal. Is there any possible way he can buy it online, or obtain a prescription online? He legitimately needs the medication.

Buy no prescription drugs online.

Yes it is illegal to buy prescription drugs anywhere without a prescription. A lot of the online pharmacies have their own medical doctors on staff who will write the prescriptions after a consultation over e-mail or phone. The legality of this, especially the pharmacies in foreign countries, is still being hashed out in the courts and Congress, but for now a lot of people are doing it. Personally, I think it’s a real bad idea for a lot of reasons. If your friend legitimately needs the medication, then dealing with insurance and doctors seems a small price to pay.

Never buy any medicine from a website. It’s just asking for trouble. A lot of what is sold over the internet is just fake crap. At best it will do nothing but at worst it might make a person seriously ill.

Your friend can buy prescription drugs in other countries.

Switzerland has less tight control and what might be classified as a prescribed drug or medicine say here in UK or the USA, might quite easily be purchased over the counter.

Your friend needs to check this out and maybe just take a holiday.

Other good news is that very often you can get cheaper treatments abroad, but again, caution.

Find out as much as you can before going down any road suggested above.

Alternatively, take a holiday to UK and maybe you’ll find it cheaper. You will not get NHS free anything, but you might get a lot better help.

    Good luck.

    yes, illegal!
It is getting more common for people to purchase drugs on the internet..dangerous too. You don’t know who is making them and what they are made out of.
It is a risky chance only you can make.

I’m having the same problem as your friend…
It’s not illegal to buy prescriptions online unless you buy them w/out having a prescription & you cannot buy them from outside of the country.

As far as I know, you need a prescription to buy prescription drugs. If I were him, I would definitely at least visit a pharmacy with an on-site doctor and get diagnosed, because even if you’re sure you know what you have, if it’s different the wrong prescription drug may harm or even kill you. Prescription drugs can be very dangerous when taken the wrong way, so my advice is go to the doctor. A little insurance fee is worth more than killer medical bills from an inappropriate drug use.
