Does anyone know if Bactrim works for strep throat and or sinus infections? Thanks.

   Bactrim is a broad based spectrum antibiotic. It can be used to treat various infections. Including strep throat and sinus infections. But may not clear them up as effectively as an antibiotic designed specifically for the type of infection you have would.

   No Bactrim or any antibiotics will not help your sinus infection. Research has shown that most sinus infections are caused by fungi NOT bacteria, which is what antibiotics are used for. Studies have also shown that antibiotics cannot reach the sinus cvities. Antibiotics may help strep throat however. I’ve usually seen Erythromycin or Bioxin given for that. They have serious issues though causing regurgitation and injuring the esophagus and stromach so be careful if you take them.
