Can amitriptyline or lortab make you gain weight?

I have been trying to lose a few pounds and I have been gaining 2-3 pounds a week. I eat about 1600 calories a day and no more than 35-40g of fat a day. I exercise at least 20-30 a day. I take 125 of amitriptyline a day and also lortab everyday. Could the either of these make me gain weight ? I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong.

Antidepressants make you gain weight like crazy. But also consider what you are eating, granted its 1600 calories but what exactly? You have to pay attention to the fat and sodium content as well. For instance I have been eating those Campbells Select Harvest Light Soups almost every meal for the last two weeks and I have been putting on weight and (pardon saying this) awful diarrhea. I didn’t notice until a few days ago that although it only has 120 calories, its filled with high fat and grease! Lortab doesnt effect weight gain at all. I have been taking two 7.5. tabs a day for almost a month. Ask your doctor about changing the amitriptyline for something that doesnt cause weight gain, or switch to fiber rich healthy foods and skip the snacks. Talk to your doctor! He/She can help you pick out a medicine that has positive affects for you. And btw, please be careful taking those pills with Lortab, I had a seizure last year from mixing my depression pills and painkillers.
